So, What Changed!

Wow... it's been a minute since I last sit down and wrote my thoughts down. I really thought I was at a dead end or that I was repeating myself. I've continued to follow the news feeds hoping to see some new revelations or some new programs and actions to curb the direction our young men are heading. I'm disappointed to say, I've seen no changes, and the outlook is getting much worse.

Since the last blog, the number of shooting incidents have tripled, the death count by guns has increased over 60% from a year ago and gun violence has now taken on a new partner...young women! At the risk of sounding redundant or rhetorical, just as our young boys and men need a father, our young women need a mother and father. Hold up a minute! We're not going down the road of men raising girls and women raising boys. However, you chose to slice it, they need a stable role model that they can see, hear, question, and can communicate with on a regular basis. They need a sounding board who has withstood some struggles in life and come out on the other side to let them know...it's going to be okay; I've got you. They are going to need to hear some real-life facts. Someone is going to have to tell them that in order for them to succeed on this journey, you're going to have to fail, but you can use those failures as a steppingstone to get to the next level in their journey. Life is going to force them to make some choices, the question is, from where do they draw their conclusions? Who did they associate with to derive at their final conclusion? Please don't fool yourselves, they are making decisions right, wrong, or indifferent. 

Look, just in case you are living your life in a hole; many states have approved constitutional carry rights! Many states have implemented the right to carry a concealed weapon without being certified. Just for the record, if you're carrying whether open or concealed...know the LAW and carry protection insurance for you, your family and all that you've worked so hard for. Again, guns are not the issue, people misusing them is! We'll talk about that in a later blog.

 So, what changed? Well, whatever it was, it doesn't work! Thousands of people are sitting back behind closed doors waiting for someone else to eradicate this issue! People, wake up! We're not going to just sweep gun violence under the rug and think that's the end of it! Did you read what I said, young girls are weaponizing! Ken and Barbie...seriously! My little pony and Cabbage Patch babies...not! As I've said in my other writings, it's not enough to just know where they are, but who they're with, what they are being taught, and what they are thinking. To do this, requires some of your time and a lot of your involvement. Yeah...it is redundant, but it's worth repeating until we get it!
